You know how you are always told to practice self-care and to take breaks? I don’t know about you, but I find it almost impossible to practice self-care and take a break at home, especially with two kids and a dog in the house. And a weekly massage, while nice, is a little out of the budget.
So where in Burbank, CA can one go to take a break that doesn’t break the bank and actually feels like self-care? Where can you go for a walk that won’t have you inundated with sounds and screens? What coffee shop feels like a haven in the bustle of work? And yes, even an occasional massage can be a great relief. I know some of the suggestions I have aren’t in Burbank, but they really do feel like an oasis in the chaos and bustle that is the greater Los Angeles area.
Places to Walk in Burbank, CA
Take a walk in the hills of Brace Canyon. It’s a short loop but it gets you out of the city and can feel like a breath of fresh air when your brain is feeling overwhelmed
Head over towards Griffith Park and check out the many trails offered there. My favorite with kids is the Ferndell Trail Loop but there are even some trails that allow you to skip driving to the Los Feliz side of Griffith!
Finally there is always the ever popular Chandler Bikeway. That is an easy walk amongst trees and grass. You can literally touch grass if that’s what you need to reset
Places to Walk Near Burbank
My favorite place to explore is Descanso Gardens. There is a hike for all abilities. You can stroll amongst the flowers or take one of the back routes to the top of the park limits. At some points you get so far from the park it feels like you are literally in the middle of nowhere. A nice place to truly get away from everything
If you are willing to drive a little further, check out the LA Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Another accessible garden that allows you to get lost for hours. It’s a great place to bring kids or just yourself and a good book.
Relaxing Coffee Shops in Burbank, CA
If you need a coffee shop in Burbank where you can get a delicious beverage and then sit and just relax, there is one just down the street from Foothills Psychotherapy. It is called The Palm Coffee Bar and while the drinks can be a little pricey the staff are lovely and the decor is adorable. Plus you can add glitter to any drink and who doesn’t need some glittery coffee when you’re feeling at your wits end?
Another lovely Magnolia Park coffee shop is Three Sisters Coffee Shop. They are closer to downtown Burbank and have a lovely space that isn’t too loud and has comfortable seating. Grab yourself a fun drink and settle in for some downtime or find Kadi when she is there to put sparkles in your hair. I personally have found that finding random sparkles in my hair gives me a dopamine hit when I’m feeling run down.
Places for a Massage in Burbank, CA
When I first opened our office in Burbank, I went to Relax Spa and Beauty for a friend’s birthday party. They offer lovely massages and facials and while a weekly massage is probably out of the budget, they are a wonderful place to go when you need someone to work out the physical stress in your body.
My favorite place to go for acupuncture also does massage! Chiropractic Remedy offers chiropractic services, acupuncture, and massage therapy to help address the pains that stress can cause our body.
More Things to Do in Burbank
I have provided a few of my favorite ways to take self-care breaks but another great person to follow is Ashley in Burbank. She is constantly posting amazing things to do and see in Burbank and is the most up-to-date on all the fun happenings.
